Words for Recovery

We meet on Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Eastern (New York) time

Welcome to the Words for Recovery meeting of A.A. This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymouseveryone is welcome.

The format of the meeting is as follows: At random, we choose words taken from A.A. literature—words like humility, resentment, and willingness. We have 200 provocative words like this. We suggest that you share whatever thoughts come to mind related to the selected word, even if they involve other addictions.

We avoid crosstalk, including interruptions, comments, jokes, arguments, or advice in regard to another person’s share. We also avoid double-dipping: Please wait until everyone has shared once before sharing a second time. Also, be mindful of how many people are in the meeting and adjust the length of your shares accordingly so that everyone with a need to share gets a chance to do so.

Before we begin, are there any anniversaries or other announcements? Are there any newcomers who care to introduce themselves by first name?

Please remember to mute yourself when you are not sharing to reduce background noise.

We have a nice way of closing, with the “we” version of the Serenity Prayer...

God, grant us the Serenity to accept the things we cannot change,

Courage to change the things we can,

and Wisdom to know the difference.
